Pcie riser - performance?

Has anyone used a 16x pcie riser? Have you seen a major performance hit?

Thinking of doing a custom case solution and was thinking of using a riser /ribbon to reposition the gpu

if you are using an x16 to x16 powered riser it should be transparent to the performance, no kind of performance hit expected there. you start to see performance degradation below x16 to x8 and that's mostly due the limited bandwidth and not the Riser itself, just be always sure to use a high quality riser those with a tiny dedicated PCB with capacitors and filters to provide always clean energy in case you card need the power from the rail.
