Why is this so painful... whyy!!!!

I copied some files from my old nas to my new OI nas and when I try and access them over CIFS, it locks my windows explorer up.

Im not on a domain. Im thinking its a ACL issue. why cant I fix it Ive tried everything!!!

Have you copied via CIFS under the same account?

anyway:
SMB-Connect your share as root and check/set ACL (only root has full permisssions per default) or
check/set ACL on OI via CLI or napp-it to at least everyone@=modify

Do not forget: CIFS is like Windows: ACL only (check ACL not Unix permissions)

sorry for the alarm yall

My computer was actually messed up somehow

I tried another computer and I could access the CIFS shares no problem

I formated the computer with the problem and now everything is ok.

no event logs, wireshark didnt help, etc. it was driving me crazy

holy hell I figured it out. I get the issue when I install the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller drive from windows update. cant browse any openindiana cifs shares. I can browse my synology shares just fine though

solution: downloaded my mobo manufacturer drivers for realtek on board nic, works fine now

yessssss, formated for nothing!
