A pair of Corsair 2GB XMS not working in the Shuttle G33. It will not even boot.

Why?

might be the default voltage is too low.

What are the sticks rated for, voltage and timing.

Try 1 stick to start. If it posts, go into bios and set the timings and the DDR voltage manually.

If it doesn't try a stick of something smaller.

I had to do something similar with my P5EVM HDMI.

I updated the Bios
Pushed the voltage to 1.9 (recommended by manufacturer)
1 stick did not work.

I will try to tinker with the timing, however it seems that the board has a 2x1GB stick limit.

The board's based on G33 so the memory limit should be 8GB.
Try swapping in the 'did not work' stick into the slot with the working module. It might just be a faulty ram.

Both sticks failed in both slots.

So instead of upgrading from 2x1gb buffalo firestix to 4x1gb buffalo firestix, your upgrading to 2x1gb corsair xms? Or do you plan on running all 4 at once?

I'd say, shut down, install new ram and pull the jumper to reset the bios, so it doesn't have a chance to read the old memory on reboot if you load default

GOT IT! Needed a little timing tweak

Strange that, I would have thought Corsair XMS series as "faster" RAM than the Firestix.

Thank you folks for the suggestions.
