1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, Browsing, HTPC, rare photoshop, Web development. I currently play Tera, but enjoy other big games like Assassin's Creed.
I'm looking for a solid build that will last me many years (besides upgrading the graphics card in a few years).
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$800-1200. Yes include tax&ship. I'm willing to adjust.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
San Francisco, California USA
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, Case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case, PSU, Motherboard, CPU, RAM, CPU Heatsink
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Crucial M4 256GB
Caviar Black 750GB
XFX Radeon HD 6850 1GB (P450-6850)
6) Will you be overclocking?
CPU yes, GPU yes.
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
I have a U3011 - so 2560x1600
I also have an old 20", but I will probably replace that sometime soon.
I know a better graphics card would be better for U3011. I'll probably do it in a year or two.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Before August. I will be out of the country then so maybe the sooner the better in case parts die. Though I'll wait if there is something amazing coming in a few weeks.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
USB 3.0, SATA 6Gb/s, onboard sound, onboard NIC.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Keeping Hard Drives, so yes.
Win 7 64bit Ultimate.
I shop via Amazon Prime.
Here are the items I'm looking at currently:
Case: Corsair 500R
PSU: Corsair 650W Modular
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z77
Ram: G.Skill RipjawsX PC3-14900 16GB
CPU: i5-3570k
CPU Heatsink: Corsair 100H
Current total is $1,070.91. Any suggestions?
I know I could do microcenter and save about $30 on the CPU, but that involves a lot of driving and gas so it most likely evens out and is not worth the effort.
Thanks!
