I currently own the Asus http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009YCIKWK/ref=oh_details_o06_s01_i00 and it's going back due to terrible light bleed, some ghosting, semi gloss screen, along with half the screen displaying white and the other half an off-white that is not correctable.

This will be a second monitor and will mostly be used for browsing/movie watching, however fast response time and no ghosting would certainly be nice.
It absolutely must have a MATTE finish screen, hdmi port, and vesa mountable. Budget is right around $350

I have 2 i'm looking at, but do not know if they have true matte screens.

1. Viewsonic http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2#scrollFullInfo

2. Samsung http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001568

I'm not a big samsung fan, but this piece has everything i'm looking for concerning connections, vesa, speakers etc. Even a remote which is a nice addition.

Any advice or other options i haven't thought of would be greatly appreciated.

Costco sells that Samsung with tuner. I am almost certain it is $220, but I could be mistaken.

these are problems that will occur from unit to unit and can happen with any particular monitor, so why not exchange it for another if it otherwise has the features you want? overdrive on the asus is adjustable, it's called 'trace free' in the osd menu.

i second ncx's recommendation of the viewsonic vx2770, but even i had to return my first unit because of poor uniformity. the replacement was much much better.

unfortunately, none of these new slim 27" 1080p ips monitors have vesa mounts.

What state and how long ago sir? I called them and spoke to an agent, he couldn't find it either. I assume it's a crap shoot from store to store, of which i don't have the will nor time to drive to every costco hoping to find a monitor, which flabergasts me how a company cannot find a bloody item in their own database they carry.

Also that Viewsonic looks great, but no Vesa kills it.
All these monitors with no Vesa is making my head throb..

I'm just frustrated cause like most of you here, i've looked at a billion damned monitors and i really thought this Asus was the one.

If I remember correctly, there is one or two versions of the Yamakasi monitors that has a matte/antiglare coating that may be the best quality for even close to the price you're looking for. Otherwise, its expensive (but from what I hear, quality) stuff like Asus PB278Q and what I am to understand is the crown jewel of 27" monitors these days, the Dell 2713H which just so happens to have a matte coating (but, without smearing the display like former offerings), but its going to be in the $600-1000 region for these without coupons.

Thanks for the info.
I guess at the $350 range(which for most of us isn't pocket change)we're stuck with this Samsung, glossy screened bullsh*t!
Why any panel engineer would choose to put a glass cover/coating over an LCD screen is simply beyond me, screw the fake contrast!

What a joke. I'm so utterly fed up with LCD and it's endless short comings!
F**k it, i'm just going to go buy a 42" plasma and put it on my desk..
