Help with installing Open Indiana (Free Solaris)

The USB installer they recommend doesn't do anything. Blank USB use it and it says it's done. Look at USB and it's still empty and no space used.

Tried unetbootin under Fat32 and syslinux craps out. NTFS and it says bootmgr missing

Tried universal usb installer NTFS and it says invalid or corrupt kernel image

Only distro I have gotten to work is Ubuntu with Unity and then only when formatted as NTFS.
 
Fedora live usb creator only works with FAT and not NTFS (It gave the syslinux error with Fedora as well) errored out on the creation. It failed during the extraction period.
 
You should ask over on the Data Storage forum. Lots of smart Open Indiana folks over there.
 
When I installed it, I had to actually delete the partition from my USB key using diskpart and then run the utility provided on the OI website.
