Hard drive usage dates - is last "uptime" date stored on drives?

I was thinking about HD security and was wondering if there was a way to tell the last time a HD was powered on and or the bus accessed if only power was applied but no bus activity.

I would think that an internal clock (I guess it would require a battery though..) that was independent of the OS/BIOS that could keep track of usage, would be an interesting feature to have as it could be incorporated into many security aspects built specifically around this feature.

I know I have seen some HD's with strange dates as maybe the firmware has been altered but IDK if that is standard on most drives, and whether it pulls the date from the BIOS or if it is related to on-drive features.

So what I am most wanting to know is if a HD is in storage for say 5 years can it be pulled out and checked to see if it has been accessed anywhere in that 5 years? Do some/any drives have this feature like enterprise or SCSI/SAS drives?
