I think the 5820k is a better value, $200 less for only 200mhz less. Since the amount of Cache and Cores are exactly the same.

This is true, but there is always those few people who get a kick out of having a bigger number in their processor name.

Plus, you get 12 more PCI-Express lanes, which wouldn't matter unless you're some super-enthusiast.

i had no idea intel was segmenting processors by the number of pcie slots. figured that'd have to come; getting the same huge ass i/o pushing uncore on a $5000 processor as a $150 processor was too good to last.
