GA-EX58-UD5 & Xeon X5650 possible?

I'm looking to upgrade my server cheaply to handle more concurrent video transcode streams. On Gigabytes website I see that this board handles some Xeon's but makes no mention of the 32nm 6-core Xeon's. Anyone able to shed any light on this?

I can say this...hardly any of the board manufactures list xeon's as compatible, but its pretty rare they don't work...just make sure your using the latest bios for your board and it should work fine. Only boards i recall ever having a problem were certain evga boards, but even then they would mod the boards for free to get them compatible

As to how well your board can overclock a xeon hexa core is anyone's guess. might be worth spending a little extra on a chip with a higher multi...but then again that applys for all boards. Even if it didn't work they resell rather quick and i doubt you would loose much besides shipping and ebay fees.
