Is there somewhere I can buy filters from that will go on my case fans? I have a P1-180 coming and my room gets kinda dusty. I remember my old xaserIII case had some filters on the fans. Any suggestions on where I could get such a thing? Thanks.

I apparently used the wrong search term on newegg the first time around, i found several available there, oops

Oooh! Question! *raises hand*

I have filters, but dont they restrict air flow? And I have a Xaser III. Do you think the holes on the side panel allow enough air to go through??

You trade less dust for less airflow.

Some possible items include:

(alum filters filter dust so-so, but they block the least amount of airflow)

http://www.frozencpu.com/ffi-15.html
(better finer aluminum mesh)

http://www.frozencpu.com/ffi-04.html
(best from a limited "made for pc's" basis, the foam filter traps the most dust, but also retricts air the most)

What is an "acceptable" air level depends on how much you want to fight the dust and how high power fans you are willing to use to keep the airflow up. Fan noise also increases slightly due to the air restriction from fan filters.

I use the foam filters on all 120mm fans that blow on internal parts. I use 92mm mesh or foam on 92mm fans as that's a harder size to find. Blow fans and fans going outward of course need no such filtration. Simple aluminum covers that just have a fine set of holes in them such as http://www.frozencpu.com/ffa-10.html do not block much dust in my experience. ymmv

Good luck :)

Just to mention, the P180 has filters on its intake/exhuast areas. In fact, the front two are easily removeable by pressing on one side so you can clean the dust.

I actually made a filter out of a swifter cloth. they are porous enough to allow good air flow and they catch a lot of dust. I had to make a piece to put it on, but that was not too hard, I just got a 1/4" by 8" wide by 1' piece of oak, and cut it to width and length and then cut out two holes, leaving a center bracing piece. I used double stick tape to stick the cloth to it. This way all i have to do is pull it out and replace the cloth. I have a Thermal take armor and I have the filter in the front.
works for me right now, I think it will do fine until I go with a water cooling set up.
