Smokin deal on this AVR-2113CI receiver, it is this year's model, has 4k pass through for future proofing, and Denon quality. MSRP is $649, which is what the majority of locations sell it for. You can see it in Fry's ad here:

It is the "Major Name Brand" receiver. Also if you don't have a Frys in your area, try price matching to paulstv.com, I had a great experience with them.

On sale for $499 and they don't even list in the specifications what the SNR is? How is that even a good receiver... sure it has a ton of features, and they look like nice features. But in this case its like having a smart phone with all those extra features but sucks at making a phone call, audio quality should be first - not completely ignored. Seriously... did I miss the signal to noise ratio spec in there somewhere?

If you want to spend a bit more, because if you're going to shell out $500 for a reciever anyway.. maybe look for one of these when they're on sale. MSRP is $649.00. 4k pass through, looks like most of the other features of the above I think.

MSRP: $649

I didn't do much research on this so feel free to pick it apart. Both have listed SNR though, its 100dB and 106dB respectfully.

Pretty much all stats provided by receiver companies are not comparable between companies because they all tweak their process/results to provide the best cherry picked numbers. This goes for SNR, wattage and just about everything. Having listened to current generation Onkyo and Denon receivers in this price range, I would put them on equal footing as far as audio quality goes.

Aside from the alleged reliability issues with Onkyo receivers (due to them running hot), the one that you linked has Audyssey 2EQ for its room correction technology, compared to the Denon which has Audyssey MultiEQ XT. This alone is worth a couple hundred bucks in my mind, as the ability for the receiver's EQ to adjust for the room's audio dynamics makes a rather significant difference in the overall listening experience. Quick reference on Audyssey here.

Denon receiveres, especially at this price band, are usually available at about this price all the time, you just have to call an authorized reseller and ask for their "best price"on the product. I paid $450 earlier this year for a 2112CI when the MSRP/internet price was $600 just by picking up the phone to order it. As the model year goes on, the "best" price will probably drop a bit, but for $500, this receiver is a pretty good deal.
