Does anyone know of a cheap solution to ambient air temperature monitoring/logging?

I'm looking for a device with a PC interface (may external LCD as well) which can accept multiple sensor probes to monitor ambient indoor room temperature, as well as outdoor temperature. I'd like to be able to monitor the delta between indoor/outdoor temperature. Humidity sensing, or anything else would be nice, but isn't required.

The idea is hooking up a device to my server or network and then run probes off of it; one sensing indoor temperature, and the other run out the window for outdoor. I work in a data center for a living so I'm aware of lots of enterprise solutions, but this is for personal use so I'm looking for something in the 10s of $ range.

Thanks!

i use TI sensor tags, but they cost $25 each.

Did some looking, that seems like a promising solution... However, how do you connect to the sensortag from a PC? Do you use any old USB 4.0 LE adapter? What about software? How easy will it be to monitor/log the information?

for normal use, communicates wirelessly over Bluetooth (pairs like any other BT device). you can use a Debugger module(not necessary for most uses) for reprogramming the flash, calibration or wired monitoring. free SDK and sample applets for mobile device. the applet reads the sensor once it's paired (no config needed).
only drawback is it uses only a watch battery for powersource. need to make an AC-DC adapter for a more permanent powersource.

I have had one of these Weather Station Wireless WS3083 with USB Upload for about 17 months now. Works a treat. Only thing I've done is change batteries in inside base unit. The outside solar panel keeps the AA rechargeables going strong.

Is sold under many brand names like Ambient Weather WS-1090 Wireless Home Weather Station, Weathereye WEA22 Indoor/ Outdoor Electronic Weather Station, ClimeMET CM2016 Wireless Weather Station . Shop around for best deal. There are several different indoor base / screen units all using the same sensors so easy to add options and/or find replacements.
