AHCI and the Intel SSD

I am attempting to clone/move a sata HD to a SSD..... which was unfortunately mounted and formatted under IDE. This is in Win7 and a P45 motherboard.

How stuck am I if I need to mount/format the SSD as AHCI?

Clarification,

I cannot seem to get the HD to boot in AHCI mode.....
