30tb hdd for consumers this year

They haven't said anything yet. The models we were EVT'ng are SAS dual actuator & HAMR so my guess is 2x-3x the current top-end-capacity enterprise drives.

So in 4 years when they come off server lease, they should be very reasonable price

I’m currently upgrading to 12TB SAS drives at $100 each. Those should hold me over.

Looking forward to how it will affect prices of smaller drives. I’m probably going to need to upgrade the 2x4TB drives in my NAS sometime this year.

My first HDD was a 60MB in an IBM PS2. I was able to round DoubleSpace on it to get a whopping 120MB!

FROM THE ARTICLE: Assuming a cost of $15 per Terabyte, a 30TB drive would cost about $450 which is a steal...

I don't believe it for a second, but the OP link said $450
