I have never removed a CPU with this much paste around the edges. What are the chances that it can actually get into the socket or pins? Maybe better off leaving it in place and just wiping off as much paste as possible?

This is an i5-9600K and board that is for sale. Obviously way to much thermal paste was used. Would you be concerned about paste seeping into the socket and stay away from it? Thanks

I just received my MSI MPG Z690 Edge WIFI DDR4. The heat sinks are substantial but there is more than adequate clearance for the NH-D15. Hard to believe that Asus missed it so badly!

I am looking at pics of both the MSI edge that is compatible with the Noctua and the Strix. The clearance looks almost the same. Is it because the Strix heat sinks are taller? I would love to see where it hits but that would require buying the board.

Does anyone have the ROG Strix Z690A Gaming Wifi D4 ? There are a lot of covers and heat sinks. Are they all metal? The Noctua NH-D15 is incompatible because of the covers around the IO panel. Is any of that plastic? Do you see any way to make the Noctua fit?

The only motherboard I had that failed was a Gigabyte. The power section actually flamed out. Asus has always been solid but maybe their quality is suffering while the others are improving? I cannot believe they dropped the ball on such basic items.
