Hey phoenicis!! You're famous (sort of?)
"Linac900Ext7Xc2 is at 3.271870%, found by [H]phoenicis, an increase of 0.005441% over the last week."
Posted on the Muon1 Facebook page (just periodic updates about how the different lattices are doing and the overall project.
Congrats :)
You are correct! Though there were some changes to our firewall and now the workstations cant auto send results so i have to take the results files home and send them like that. Oh well! Makes for amusing points dumps haha.
This sounds very interesting to me. Is it part of the DC vault at all? And how easy is it in BOINC to limit a project to one WU at a time? It's been awhile since i dug around in the settings.
Phoenics, I love you. Worry not :D Every time you pass me it makes me want to spend money! Come march we should be getting new workstations at my work. HOPEFULLY some SB hex cores. I can really put the afterburners on over the weekends at that point! ;D
Thanks for the tips Donuts! I'm leaning towards Cosmology now.
Do you guys think it'd play nice at 7 threads on an 2600K with 8gb of ram?
Also, if i were to pause it mid solution does it free up the ram? I typically pause it to play an hour or two of games then resume the "solve".
With the Yoyo contest over do we have any other targets in mind? I was thinking about switching back to muon but the gap between us and the next team is scary -_-.
So, I woke up this morning and my computer room was only 50°F!! I'd say it's about time for me to turn on some GPU folding power... Should help heat the whole of my upstairs lol.
Going by Sazan's list 3 pages back the "highest" AMD available project on the BOINC list is Collatz so I'll be...
Awesome idea, Kendrak!
Just as a point of contention, is someone able to win back to back contests for the points of this box? If so, what is to stop them from just using the box's points to enter the next contest? It almost sounds like there would need to be a 1 month "Kendrak point month" in...
I'm honestly surprised to see Muon1 still way up on the priority list.
I think what I'm going to do is switch my work computer (and the bigger firepower whenever i get access to it) over to muon after the yoyo giveaway. Muon1 works well on those as our proxy server hates quite a few projects...
I completely agree with you guys on the box thing. E to open, R to get all, tab to close? Dumb! Is this something that the UI modders can fix? Is it something you can do in the controls configuration window?
I have yet to change my FOV (I didn't know about it at midnight last night lol) and i...
I did not have to turn up my sound, and I was wondering if you guys who need to do so have surround sound? I do, and it definitely works (i can hear people walking/talking behind me and all that).
I ask because I've noticed in other games that when i have my surround sound off on the physical...
My experience so far has been stellar. No issues at all getting it running or crash to desktop or anything. The opening scene was really the only time I was looking at graphics or anything.
I've only noticed a few oddities, like one time walking along some guy warped 90degrees from standing...
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you all, I appreciate the comments though! A few answers:
I don't have any antivirus running other than MSE. I never had this issue on the old computer (vista) where the OS was on the same hdd as the music.
I was planning on getting winamp again to test...
Upon release day do i have to try to play to make steam decrypt the preload or will it do that automagically at midnight (or whenever)? This is the first game i've preordered on steam, im at a loss!
Touche salesman!
I will take one copy of the item which you are selling.
I cant wait to get home and watch the new video, stupid work blocks youtube (for probably good reason ;))
Another reason you may not see points yet is that many of these "WUs" are 8+ hours of crunching. I currently have 3 or 4 running on my 2600k that are ticking past 12 hours of run time now. Not increadibly long by folding standards, but fairly long for BOINC (and then you have to wait for the...
Assuming you have the same issue I did, you have to physically go in and change the preferences on the yoyo@home website. it defaults to your name or something like that. At least it did for me. Doing so wont affect your points total as it somehow knows you are you still.
Small bit of a thread necro here, but I was unable to find an answer on google. If i already have data on the drive, will updating the SSD firmware blow away all of my data or will it still be there?
The crucial website says this, which leads me to believe I won't lose my data unless theres a...
Fileformat: mp3,
Bitrate: 128-256 (randomly distributed therein, really).
I have not tested the hitachi.
And i dont have access to a free harddrive :( I could throw a bit of it on the SSD and try it there, would that be helpful?
This info about the DLC has been mentioned before, but there was a neat tidbit in the link at the end of the article.
Main DLC article:

Hi all,
Hopefully this is the right place to ask this question!
Two weeks ago I built the i7 rig in my signature and have installed windows and all main programs on the SSD in the sig. I also have a Hard drive (HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.D) in it. I am using windows 7 home premium (64bit) and...
Hey guys, Skyrim will be my first TES game and I'm very much looking forward to it! I picked up Fallout 3 on Friday and have been playing that to tide me over and get me in the mindset of an open ended world.
That said, I have a problem... I am a freaking packrat (You should have seen my bank...
My i7-2600k at 4.7GHz running 6/8 threads is getting about 8kppd while im using it to play and host a minecraft server. I have a 100% dedicated Q6600 at 2.8Ghz hasnt turned in any units yet, but i'd guess upwards of 3k ppd.
Shouldnt be terribly hard to manage 100k in 30 days.
SazanEyes,
Could you please post a new "priority list" for projects? We've moved up in quite a few different projects recently and I think at least Muon1 will have dropped down quite a bit.
I'm currently running on Yoyo@home at work and at home as I saw a few people starting to put some...
Wow, I never thought to try that. I just got mine a few days ago and have been fiddling with placement as it is fairly thick (i normally dont even use a pad) and your configuration (so far) is by far the best!
Thanks!
I switched over to yoyo@home on my work computer.
On a more positive note I recently bought a 2600k system, currently have it OC'd to 4.8, was going to try to poke around and get 4.9 out of it this weekend, we'll see how temps play, though. It's currently crunching on F@H for the giveaway, but...
