Anyone know if this is coming back up on Steam? Seems weird to take it off Steam when the whole point was that they didn't have enough customers, so they make it F2P and then take it off the biggest digital download service around?

Exactly. What you are saying is from someone who presumably is a very knowledgeable gamer (given the fact that you are posting here) and understands these things well. There's probably a large number of PC gamers (maybe the majority) out there who don't know or even care about Steam v. Origin...

Your contention is that there would be no new sales if BF3 popped up on Steam today? Seems like a dubious proposition at best. Certainly wasn't the case when they released Baldur's Gate on Steam and that was available elsewhere. The platform matters more to some than it does to others...

I needed it yes. I may be a very cautious gamer, but I save before I do about anything. I have such precious little time for gaming that when I do it, the last thing I want to do is have to redo a big section of the game just because of wasted save time. May not be as big a deal for others...

I wonder when they will consider the evaluation period up and deem it a failure. They have already released BF3, SWTOR, Simcity, and a host of other games exclusive to Origin on PC, and yet they are still at best at half of the PC user base of Steam. That's just a huge crowd of (20+ million)...
