Yes, this is a SteamWorks game.
I occasionally still play Borderlands 2. It is really a game that you want to play in a group of friends. I'm at 269 hours played.
Season Pass allows you to get 4 DLC expansions for the price of 3. It does not include all DLC available for the game though. The upcoming level cap increase is free to Season Pass owners.
So far there are 3 expansions out with more to come. Torque, Captain Scarlett, Sir Hammerlock

The creature dome is additional content that came with the preorder edition of the game.
Mechromancer character is separate from the Season Pass.
Collector's Edition Content has some skins and some guns that last you for a little while at the start of the game. Of course the skins are kinda cool if you're into that type of thing.
Four pack is just the base game x4 so you can give your buddies copies of the game.

I am looking to get back into the game single player when nothing else is going on.
I played the heck out of borderlands, picked it up last year for $7,99 and the expansions.
Great fun, guns were a little weak to me, never did find a bfg ROFL

I love the game to death, but damn. Talk about 'nickel and diming'.
 
Next week Tuesday is the release date for the level 61 level cap increase update (will cost $4.99) (free to owners of the season pass)

Season Pass @ ~14.99 is a helluva deal
 
Everyone should own at least the base game. Anyone that hasnt played through the campaign at least once is seriously missing out.
 
Considering that the lvl cap increase, storage and ammo increases are either a $5 DLC or included in the Season Pass, the $15 for the Season Pass really is not that bad at all.

Unless you've played the 1st game, then you're only missing out on basically playing the exact same game again with very few changes.
 
BL1 and BL2 are completely different games, BL1 barely had a story, was funny, but BL2 actually has a story and some really fun characters.

I wasn't talking about BL1. By base game I mean Borderlands 2 without the DLC's.

BL2 does have some great characters and a passable story but are you seriously going to use that to claim it's completely different? The entire way the game PLAYS and LOOKS feels exactly the same as the first game. The biggest difference is in the playable characters. Even with them the game still feels exactly like the first game. I put nearly 100 hours into Borderlands 1 but with 2 there really isn't much motivation to keep forcing my way through it. It feels like they did the absolute minimum amount of work they had to to justify it as a sequel and didn't go any further.
