This should be way faster than 2060 super/2070 & is only +$30. Here is the Link.

Not a bad price if you can't wait for next gen. Also 11GB ram always attractive :)

I have one in both my linux box (1080p) and windows box (1440p) and they still run REALLY well.

Good price on great performance. Just sold a 1080 ti and waiting for the 3000 series to come out to upgrade.
 
Might also be a good option for a plex server that needs hardware decoding

I like the idea of this, particularly having an SG13 case, but I honestly have no first hand experience with this brand's products.
Question to the community: any concerns with quality issues from this manufacturer or this product in particular?

Hey I have a Zotac 1080 Mini that I've had since it came out, works great in an itx case, and the last three or so months it's been running almost 100% for Folding@Home for COVID - I've only had two other Zotac Cards and they've been fine!

You can patch out stream limitations. But the 1080 is definitely overkill. I'd look at the revamped 1650 with GDDR6 personally for multiple stream Plex use.

Even a 1660ti. Imo is overkill for a pure Plex server. The p400 is all you need for a decently sized server and multiple hw streams at once

Any reason to get a 1660 super or P400 over my current i3-9100 with UHD 630 graphics? I can decode/encode a ton of streams (have tested 5 h.264 at once without breaking a sweat; even threw an h.265 4k in there, for good measure).

Nope. It's for us who run virtual Plex servers or older hardware that can't handle GPU decoding. I run mine using passthrough hardware to a windows 10 VM on a esxi 6.7 host.

You need to look at the 1050/1060 or 1660 of you want more juice than the p400/p620.

Just depends on how many streams you need concurrently and this what you target. Remember you still have your CPU assist

Well I am glad I went down this rabbit hole with you guys.

I had to upgrade my machine to server 2019 to use the newest nvidia driver and patched it to unlock the stream limit but the result is absolutely worth it. I wish I knew about this sooner but as they say ignorance is bliss. This machine hosts plex, a Seafile VM and also blue iris with 4 1080p cameras. With the cameras now decoding on the video card and a plex transcode now on the card the whole system just feels so snappy. I have never seen plex load so fast while seeking during a transcoded playback.

I can see how vram could be a limit though. 4 cameras consume 1gb of vram. Add a plex stream and its another 200 megs. With just the cameras GPU utilization is 18%. Add a plex transcode from X265 and its 26%. Basically nothing.

I am very very very happy right now.
