I always knew that zombies would some day come for us, I just didn’t know they would be coming from space. Whoa, space zombies orbiting the earth? That is awesome!

Galaxy 15, a communications satellite 22,400 miles above the planet, refuses to obey commands sent from Earth. And it's getting perilously close to other satellites — potentially "infecting" them as well.

awwwwwwwwwww, shit. I hate zombies...hope its not those fast running kind like in 28 days later...I'm hella outta shape. if they dont catch and eat me then I would probably cough up a lung and die anyway.

I can see it now, it is a marketing ploy to advertise Left for Dead 3: Zombies in Space!!!! LOL

I heard Rob Zombie is trying to secure rights to a movie deal based on this...

j/k LOL

Sure enough. Every time a zombie shows up all I'm left with is a pistol and a crowbar.

It isn't too big of a deal. There are two natural collection points that satellites in GEO will go to if left unattended. It will pass by one satellite owned by the largest competitor and will cause conflict for about a week. After that, it will pass by 3 or so more satellites all owned by the same company as the zombie satellite. Then it will be in the dead spot with many other dead satellites. One interesting thing to note is that the zombie satellite and the competitors satellite were both made by the same company.

that sucks, hopefully they can figure out how to take it out before it screws up any other satellites.

pfft.. give the other satellites a chain saw and a shotty and let them deal with it.
[rant type="conservative" point="none"]Where are all those bleeding heart liberals complaining about the weaponization of space now?[/rant]

We've shot one down before... why not this one?

Or is it because there's no need to display our space-dominance to the Russians right now? <Even though we'll be buying space rides from them once we retire our shuttle program>

someone will care once it hits a sat carrying porn relays

time to test that satellite shooting capability again :D.. man i wish i could watch them shoot it down if they did..

I could be wrong, but i think the last time they had to wait for it to fall to a certain point before they blasted one out of the sky. this one isn't falling so that isn't going to work. it is still 99% functional, just the communications isn't working. so it will stay afloat like it is supposed to, they can't can't tell it to move or do anything.

SM-3 isnt able to destroy satelites on high orbit (IIRC).
