I just finished reading this book by former Microsoft guru Mark Russinovich. I think it is a pretty good fictional cyber and network security book anyone in this field should read. It is also like a Tom Clancy novel and the bad guys are terrorists secretly launching a massive cyber attack against the United States.

Excellent book. I read it a couple weeks ago. It was really good. I really liked the fact that things were actually plausible. It was fairly accurate and there really wasn't anything that those other people make up (reverse the polarity of the firewall structure to make the bits shift to the CPU....). :)

Recommended, for sure!

Former Microsoft Employee? I thought he was still a Technical Fellow.

I believe he still is. He also wrote Windows Internals books, which are VERY technical. The books are not technical at all, but when it mentions how the virus interacts with other computers, it uses accurate terms.

If you liked this book, you would also probably like "Kingpin", "Counting from Zero", and "Fatal System Error". I've read them all and enjoyed them. I'm also looking forward to "Ghost in the Wire" when it comes out soon!
