I am trying to set up a zero config vpn so that all internet access through the client computer is tunneled to the server before actually going to the internet. I know a VPN server can do this. However I have an additional requirement in that the server's ip address is unknown and I have no physical access to it after initial setup. Security isn't a major concern so I am using Hamachi to create a virtual lan and setting up a proxy server. However, the problem with that is Windows does not seem to have a global proxy setting. Changing IE (or the proxy setting in Control Panel) does not affect all the applications.

So I am looking at:
1) Somehow forcing proxy settings on apps. I've tried Freecap but could not get it to work. An app suggestion would be great.
2) VPN tunnel over Hamachi.
3) Some other option.

You might consider either a pptp vpn, or an ssl vpn with split tunneling turned off. I'm pretty sure both of these will direct all traffic over the vpn, and then for the proxy you might fiddle with the gateway set by the vpn to make that work.
