AFAIK the black one only works with the AM2 socket.

The newegg one listed will work with the 775 socket T.

with a tiny bit of black paint and some pateince, you can colour the outside of the fins on the copper one black... with no ill effects.

Actually the black one would work better aswell :p So it could be worth the time. Would it matter what paint you use?

Nope, not really.

I'd go buy some high heat metal spray paint... spray it into a dish you dont want, and use a brush to lightly apply some.

It seems to have the best adhesion to metal when you're using it sans primer.

Dont paint the inside of the fins, however... That would hurt cooling for certain.

I'd be more inclined to just mist on the paint. Gunmetal would be best, from a spray paint can. Just pop the fan, mist on a very thin layer, and it should still work.

Else, aren't the mounting mechanism's interchangable? meaning if you buy the black one and then stick the mounting from the copper one on there, it should work?

So that copper one would work my core 2 for sure, right? If so, I can order it tonight

Ok, here is my understanding of it all:

All of the 9500s are the same except for the color and bracket they come with.

The black w/green led 9500 comes only with the bracket for AM2

The Copper 9500 AT comes only with the bracket for Intel 775

The Copper w/blue led 9500 LED model comes with the brackets for both.

Kinda screwy really, considering they are all the same dimensions and such, just different colors and with different brackets.
