Zalman cooler, missing LGA775 backplate

So one of the 939 rigs around here was put out of service and it's got a Zalman cooler on it. Since it was purchased some years ago i can't find the backplate that mounts it on LGA775. Is it safe to just to mount it sans the backplate or and i gonna run into trouble. I have an old Golden Orb II mounted without a backplate that's been in service for a while with no trouble, but it's roughly 1/3rd the weight of the zalman.

i have the lga 775 mounting kit for the 8700.. if its the same id be willing to send it to you..

Have you tried seeing if you could get the brackets from ZALMAN through an RMA or something?

Geez i completely forgot about Zalman RMA, i dug up the newegg invoice and sent an e-mail to zalman support. Hopefully i wont be charged an arm and a leg for shipping, my paypal is pretty much empty
