My E6420 is on the way and I plan on OC'ing it to at least 3GHz and I wanted to know if I would be better off with either:

Retail Intel Boxed Cooler
or
Zalman CNPS-7000-CU (90mm fan flower HSF, all copper)

I already have the Zalman so don't suggest newer models.
I will be using AS5, naturally....

I'm @ 3.0ghz on 1.34v and never top 52C at 100% load on both cores using the stock cooler. I believe the stock coolers that come with the Core 2's have a lower max RPM, b/c its hella quieter than the one I used to have on my Prescott. Over 3.0ghz move up to the Zalman.

Are you using Core Temp to monitor temps. That is the only program I trust so far. but use the zalman from the start snice you already have it.

I am using TAT.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. Now that my s775 adapter for the 7000b-CU has arrived it really blows the pants off of the intel retail cooler. I was about 70c when using TAT at 100% both cores with stock cooler. Now I top out at 50c with the zalman. Sweet.
