So I just bought 2 Zalman-2HC2 hdd coolers for a case mod thats all acrylic and these coolers have wire for grounding the hard drive since they will almost be isolated from the case to aid in noise prevention.

I just wanted to be sure that I would be safe in leading the ground, that would normally be connected to a steel/aluminum case, to one of the motherboard standoffs. If not, could I connect it to the casing of the psu?

-Thank You.

connect it to any black wire, which does the same thing as hooking it up to the case of the PSU.

You can safely leave it unconnected. The drive will get its ground via its power and data cables.

The HD mounting in my Antec Sonata case effectively "ungrounds" the hard drive enclosures, same as using one of those with the ground wire unhooked. Everything works OK.
