Z77 Sabertooth Owners, any chance of lower temos with removed thermal guard?

I have been using their thermal tool to track my temps. The top half of my board remains cool in the 20/30C. The bottom half though is almost always in the higher 40's celsius.

I am wondering if the plastic protector is locking in the hear and if anybody has any experience with lower temps once removed.


I have found the middle fan has little affect. Not really worth the wattage.
 
Agreed with the wattage statement. However; I've found that the plastic layover helps a great deal. My buddy took his off and the temps stayed the same. He did; however, buy new fans to replace the ones that came with the board (after he put back the layover). Dropped the temps by +/- 3° C
