YouTube Gamers Are Mad At Jimmy Kimmel

Ive seen kimmel a few times on tv and tbh I think he is a dick regardless of him taking the piss outta ppl watching gaming utub videos.

Exactly. I've never intentionally watched anyone else play.

(Wll, I [i[have[/i] watched my stepson play Goat Simulator and Agar.io, but sometimes as an adult you have to do things you don't want to do)
 
Also, I have watched people play...but only if it's an interesting thing. Mainly, speedruns or massive showcases in talent (ie Evo Fights).
 
Being a huge (regular) sports fan, I really don't see much difference in watching sports vs. esports. In the end, you're watching people that are better than everyone else play a game. Granted, I don't watch esports myself, but I don't have any issue with people that do. I do watch Twitch streamers once in a while though. I feel like they often can give you more insight into the game they are playing than a written review or whatever.
 
Never watched Jimmy Kimmel, but based on what I heard, I feel similar. I don't really like watching other people play games, unless its for a learning experience. IE: tutorial, hints/tips, and new game trailer/gameplay video.

I feel the same thing about people going nuts over watching sports and esports. Its just weird. Only time I watch esports is to learn and not for entertainment.

You never had a friend or family member play a game in the same room as you? Seems nearly everyone has. It being a stranger over the internet shouldn't technically make it a different thing, yet it is somehow seen as less cool, suggesting you are a loser?

Was that show about people watching a movie and making stupid comments really popular? How is that different than something like "James & Mike Mondays" or the dozens of other similar youtube series?
 
I can give some legitimate reasons why ppl watch streamers.

There are way more ppl making video games nowadays. Indie developers are a dime a dozen and there are a lot of crap games coming out from ppl trying to make a few quick bucks. I don't really stream often usually only I'm playing solo and bored, but most of my viewers that come in my channel because they heard of X game and wanted to see what the gameplay is like first hand and many of them have questions like 'can I do a, b, or c in this game? does this game have x, y, and z?'

It's just a different perspective. HSN has ppl that watch people market products, but why do they waste time watching HSN first, when they could just go buy the product? Oh you mean because just like video games they are paying money and want to educate them selves about the product first before deciding if it is worth their money? Why does Apple spend so much money marketing the iPad when they know they have a superior product? (j/k)

You don't need to 'call-in' and wait on the line to ask a streamer a question either. I just thinking streaming is the nextgen, and much more interactive way to market a product or brand. In this case, ppl want to see an informed, unbiased opinion of the game before buying (I say unbiased in the context compared to most 'mainstream gaming journalism' articles today that are totally uninformed). People stream because they want to build an online community much like someone who starts a guild, because some ppl have more fun when playing with friends vs alone.

BTW if you generalize people with "Mouth breathers" and the like, then i'm sure that you are a swell person to talk to, if i would generalize you guys back, well, have fun voting Trump next year i guess? :p lol

Not understanding the appeal of something is NOT the same as trying to tell someone what to like and what not to like.

We all have things we don't understand the appeal of.

For me, in addition to not understanding the appeal of watching someone else playing a game, I also don't get the appeal of pickup trucks, football, or country music.

I'm sure there are plenty of things you don't get the appeal of as well.

BTW one can't even edit posts here, and i am right atop yours, so my entire, short, post could be read up by anyone and notice that there is nothing to be offended, except for the people that are offended by everything.

What does it matter who shares your hobby? I wouldn't call this anything like GG, but whatever, I guess. People already view it badly..... wait, just like people already view gamers badly... like they would have even if this didn't happen.
 
So... he admits that he's an idiot for watching American football. That must justify every thing. Sigh..I really hope he isn't a true representation of America, the birthplace of TV game shows.

Reading any thread about like a botched game patch or a rushed release around here shoulda clued you into that a long time ago.

But yeah, Gamergate was the icing on the cake of male video game fans using "because vagina" as an excuse to flip out and demonstrate that they're more interested in daytime soap opera stories than any stay at home mom ever was. The worst part of it is that it's older people doing it. Most of the sub-30's crowd couldn't care less, but the old gamers that are already deep into making politics and arguing a way of life thanks to aging were the ones that couldn't keep their emotions under control.
