[YourNewCase] SUGO ... 5! GO!

I wouldn't consider doing it myself as not a modder. Just what immediately came to mind when I saw picture.

Ah right. Then to explain: the case consists mostly of a single sheet that bends up from the bottom at all four sides to form the front, back, and bottom braces.

If you would cut a "a cross section" from the middle, you'd have to weld it together which would be very difficult to get it straight again. It would lose structural strength, and would need a lot of work to clean up the seam: filing, sanding, painting.

Similar with the outer panel: better cut it at one end than in the middle, but then you lose either the clips at the front, or the folded mounting tabs at the back.

Looks fine Medeyer. Only thing I was going to suggest is CP10 for the slimline optical, but seems that Silverstone include one in the SOD02.

Good luck with your build!

Edit: before you spend $29 on a Noctua I respectfully suggest to try the stock H60 fan first. Try also the stock case fan. Both are good quality fans. Only if you decide you can't bear the noise, have a listen to fans in this test - http://martinsliquidlab.org/2013/05/07/fan-testing-round-12/

Your list includes two 2.5" drives, a slim ODD drive, and an H60. They won't all fit in the SG05 without some sort of mod.

Sit the HDD under the H60 and hang the SSD off the frame. The most amount of modding required is some double-sided tape and drilling two small holes.

What about the H60 vs the drive tray? In stock form, there's only enough room for a fan. To fit a rad, you'll need to either mod or remove the tray.

You could take a card from this recent (and highly excellent) SG05 build..

I don't have time to compare the H60 vs H50 radiator dimensions but it looks about right.

No you don't -- I've used both the H50 and H60 in each of my SG05 cases while keeping the optical drive and 3.5" bay. The problem is that most people want to use a push-pull configuration or don't realize that you'll still get very good cooling performance with the fan+rad staggered like this: http://forum.corsair.com/upload/h50minipc.pdf. If you position the radiator flush to the case floor with the tubes to the side, it'll give you room for the OD tray.

I wanted a better seal than with cable ties, so I went back and used a line of hot melt glue on the radiator.

Hey guys, am I missing anything here?

It's been a long wait, but I'll be ordering that next week.

Looks great, totally reminds me of cart from last week :)

Just note that there's a screw mount under the rad. You can see it just to the left of the 8 pin mobo power cable (yellow and black). I found that it was hard to place the HDD there with the mount in place. The HDD sits perfectly either side of the mount but it blocks the sata and power cables. Does anyone know what that screw mount is for?

It was originally for mounting a card reader on the bottom of the case. You can drill it out easily.

Ok, I'll give them a go.

I'll add drilling out rivets to my to do list.

Forgot about that. Easily removed with a die grinder.

I have one noctua fan on my set up in push and my max temp is 57C after 3 hours of Prime95. But that's with no OC.

You'll also need an extra set of screws to mount a second fan on as well. The H60 doesn't come with a spare set.

Go to order my parts today just to find out that there aren't any 670 minis in stock. Have to wait again. Bastards. :p

Bugger mate...

Maybe they might do a Gtx770 mini version.

If they do a 770 mini, they'd best do it off the bat, not on the ass end of the cycle right before the next series is announced. I'm sure there'll be some more in stock within the next few days.

Hi all :)
I finally have finished my sff, in the picture you will find my solution for 2 hdd
Someone can advise me which backpack is more indicated for the transport?

Maybe give them a call or email to see if they are getting more in stock just to be sure?

So I picked up a Sugo SG05-Lite, Silverstone's 450 watt PSU, and this mobo:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130664

Coupled with a 100wat A8-5600K CPU.

With the stock cooler, my temps are nuts - idling at 50c, ramping up gets up to 70c very quickly and of course the fan quickly becomes loud.

So, what's the consensus on the best cooler you can get that fits an FM2 motherboard and won't block the PCIE slot? There doesn't seem to be much selection out there. I'm looking at this one, but it looks like it could block the PCI:

I have the Geminii M4 in my rig. It's really quite and cool, but it will probably block the pcie on your mobo :/
Are you using an ODD? If not, you could get an AIO 120mm cooler.

Do the NT06-Pro. or AXP-100 block the PCIe slot on that board?
Well that's what I'd like to know as well. :)

As you can see the CPU socket is pretty close to the PCIE, that NT06 would be tight. Ram slots I'm not too worried about, I at least thought ahead and got low profile sticks.

BTW I did improve things slightly - did more reading, my first instinct was to mount the PSU with the fan intake on top, but for the SG05 that should be the reverse. Flipped it, that brought down temps 5C or so, so no longer in danger of shutting down, but the fan still goes up to ~4000rpm under load so want to cut that out.

It was listed at being in stock in 24 hours. That was four days ago, so I sent them an e-mail this morning.

The NT06-Pro was designed with the SG05 in mind, so it's your best bet for air cooling. If the fan in the PSU is giving you problems, people have replaced them before. You can check them out here.

You can also use the Prolimatech Samuel 17 in the SG05. You then have enough clearance to flip the PSU (fan facing UP) while having the CPU fan pushing air DOWN.

so, none of this new nvidia 7xx cards fit the sg05 without mods? im getting a new display and i'll be in need of one, theres no other way (no sli option, duh)

The GTX 770s' we have in house are 10" long instead of 10.5" on the Titan and GTX 780.

Do any of the 770s you have come with the Titan blower? How similar are the PCBs compared to the reference 680s?

yeah i saw that, thanks Tony

vipz: very similar, same chip (GK104). the titan blower wouldnt fit without mods, its too long.

Could you please give us more precise information on this Tony? This interests me because I would like to build a FT03 Mini system and I can't find any GTX 700 cards that will fit without modding...

These 770s are 10" long, so they might just fit.

I see people using the H60 here. Will the H80i also work? Is it better?

My friend is saying i should get a alienware since im in university, but i want to build a SG05/SG06 system instead. The only things puzzling me are cpu cooling and whether some 770 gtx will fit.

I believe the H80i will fit, but with only one fan.

I totally encourage you to build your own system. There's a lot of self satisfaction once you've built it.

If you do build post up pictures of your build log!
