[YourNewCase] SUGO ... 5! GO!

If you are using a H50 please post some pics so I can see some different orientations and ideas. Im trying to figure out with todo with my two 2.5HDDs now that Ive lost the top thingymobob.

To be honest, you'll likely get better temps from one GT-AP15 pulling. That alone managed to keep an OC'd i7 930 (3.2GHz, lamesause OC :p) down to sub 80C... (set as intake on P180mini)

Though with a HD6870, yeah, you won't be able to fit a H50 and the tray...

there is also the side mount idea, in the "black sg05" thread.

Correct. Lemme give you the grand plan

Sugo 5 450 watt
I5 760
H50-Corsair fan pulling and Slim Scythe pushing
Giga H55/2x4gb
x2 2.5 HDD 90gb SSD and 250gb 5400K
6870

Do you have any issues running these components with the st45sf psu under full load? Like chirping or other noise? See "St45 sf total crap" thread in this forum.

I do have a GT and thats what I was going to put on there but I figured I should at least try the fan that came with it first. Everyhting thing Ive seen so far pointed to losing the tray and I was alright with that till I realized Id have nowhere for the lappy drive. Where is said thread?

Yeah I read your guys thread and I have not experianced the chirping as far as I know. Granted I dont do a lot of benching, stressing and things of that nature. That and I dont have the 6870 right now Im using a GTX460.

New update:

Painted all interior with "montana colours" spray. First red antiox primmer, black paintute and matt varnish. Result is amazing (compared with the "blow and go" painture i used before)

Finally the case has the kind of style i like. Now i'll have to wait to get some sleeving (MDPC) and cut the psu cables a bit.

I just have two questions:

1- In case it was just completely impossible to buy typical molex pins for cutting the cables and placing new pins (in barcelona, spain is damn difficult to find this neither electrical components shop nor pc modding specialised shops) would you cut the cables and put them back together by welding or heatshrink?

2- As you see, i'm trying to place the HDD just between the psu and the side of the case, right on top of the GPU. How would you place them in the case if it wasn't there? I thinking on build my own mount for two 2,5".

nice work on the paint. is that the 300w psu? it looks very cute

edit: guess not :p and rephrasing: VERY nice work on the paint ;)

its the 450... looks like the new sg05 450, but just spent money on a new psu and sprays (makes me fell stupid lol).

Now I know how it works on steel a think next time I'll paint it better, just look, there are some scratches because of early mount.

Definitely i think the montana colors (or graffiti type sprays) are the best. They are not more than 3€ each and they are really hard to remove or scratch (with print coat, paint and varnish) (still have my hand with some black painture ¬¬')

Nothing fancy, couldn't fit the drive bracket like everyone with the radiator. I'm able to fit the SSD vertically on the side of the radiator to save room. Too bad I had to add a big 2TB recently, so much for having room.

Intel i5 655K @ stock
Corsair DDR3 8GB 1333 (2x4GB)
Gigabyte H55N-USB3
Corsair H70 w/ stock Corsair 1600RPM fan & Zalman fan controller
Kingston SSD 64GB
Samsung 2TB

Peek-a-boo I see you SSD.

To those who are curious, here's how I mounted the H70 bracket to the board (which we all know there's a slight spacing issue)

I used some plastic washers I found in my toolbox. I cut them so they're not touching any chips on the board and laid them out.
h55n-00.jpg

I have to do the same for a second layer of washers, stacking them to create an adequate thickness for the H70/H50 bracket to clear.

Bracket in place.

We're clear for take off!

Nice mount on the h70, i just did something similar, but worst. The ssd fits great there, but the 2tb hdd just gets into the gpu way... i wouldnt change the gpu for a hdd. About the psu cables: use the spaces inside the side top parts to hide them a bit..

Did you have any tourble with the front panel sound connector, for me its TOO short.

Yeah I think it's too short too. Mine goes straight across the top of the motherboard, no other way around it for me. But I'm sure you can get some sort of extension to make it longer so it can be routed around the case for cable management. Something like this or perhaps any cheap internal USB extension will work (they're all just wires).

As for the GPU I have no need for one since this machine doesn't run any game, but I'm running a PCI-E card for video capturing. Thus the 2TB HD was a must for me and I had no choice but to use putty to stand it up straight.

Just moved from a PC-Q08 into the SG05 ... it was so easy to do the install!!!!!!!

I now know why so many people use this case, it's a dream to work with :)

Just need to get a new GPU now (the 9800GT Silent Cell won't fit, don't want to modify the case yet) ... so will I be able to run a GTX 560 Ti with the original PSU or is the GTX 460 as big as I can go??

Thanks.

I should have mentioned the rest ...

Gigabyte H55N-USB3
i5-760 @ stock (won't have a need to overclock but I have had it to 3.6GHz with ease)
4GB G.Skill ECO 1600 CL7
500GB Seagate 7200.12 (going to get 120GB SSD later)

This computer is going to be the family machine so it'll spend most of it's time playing Facebook Flash games or The Sims at 1680x1050 (on a 2209WA) ... although due to it's size I might use it for some LAN gaming for CoD and so I'd like the best GPU I can put in there with the original PSU. Obviously I won't be doing any overclocking of the GPU either ...

Happy sexy time. Just got my new DFI mobo the other day and finally got around to craming everything in there last night. Ill post pics later today. My next task is some aftermarket cooling for this 6870. After some googling from what I can tell a Scythe Musashi should fit. Does anyone have any experience in the matter?

Here are some rough pictures. Specs are in my sig. Loving the H50 this time around idles around 22C and I havent ran prime95 but the Intelburnin on max raised it to 42C.
The first time I installed the H50 on my last build it idled at almost 35C and the H55 mobo died anytime I did anything intensive.
Have not sat around to listen for the noises you guys are experiencing. Ill be playing some BFBC2 tonight so Ill listen for the PSU.

Top front - This my next thought. 32gb SSD and 90 SSD just chilling sideways right there.

hi,guys
i've got an sugo-5 case without mod
just wonder that if ausu eah6850 fits the case well
the spec tells that eah6850 is 10.25' long...may it fit okay?
can anyone here post a pic ..that a lot
sorry for my poor english. it's not my mother language.

Anyone know if Asus's 6850 will fit in the SG05? It uses the longer 10.25 board but it has the 6 pin facing up.

hi...did u choose the eah 6850 to set in the sugo-5 case finally

i am wondering the card'length may not be fitted in that case...

would it be okay?

E46, that's a nice snug fit! Like it was built for that GPU :D

PS: big E46 fan. 03 325XI :D

@cj3waker: Yeah its the Asus board. I was going to get the J&W 890GX model but, it wasn't released yet

@cmadki4: You have to pull out everything to get it to fit though. Got an 03 M3 and baby that thing to death:D

I see that a few people are using the 6870's now ... anyone tried the MSI HD6870 HAWK yet or does it have to be the reference design with power facing up??

I ended up dropping my old GTS250 into the box for the moment but after gaming on it yesterday (my normal gamer is packed up due to moving house and this one was easier to setup again quickly) I was a little dissapointed in it's performance ... and so without going to a GTX560 (too much power usage) the 6870 looks to be on the money.

So the choices are:
MSI 6870 Hawk - AU$259.00
ASUS 6870 Reference - AU$269.00
HIS 6870 Reference - AU$229.00

I have a pair of ASUS 5780's in my normal rig so that's why I would consider the ASUS model, but the MSI is quieter and slightly overclocked and the HIS is cheaper ... help me decide!

I was at a computer store today picking up a new 3G router for my parents and I asked if they had any 6870's in stock ... they did ... so I purchased one!

Got the MSI reference model, thought it would be the safest bet as it's not overclocked and I know it's going to fit.

Will hopefully have time tonight to install it and give it a go over the weekend :)

I am going to see if the EVGA gtx 570 will fit. They have a model with the fan in the center and I guess its 9" or so in length.

Normal GTX570 will fit in SG05 and SG06, if you mod the front of the case (internal metal structure). It only needs about .2" more than the metal frame allows.

Now that pic of the HD6950 in the SG06... gives me hope for the HD6970 :D

Though I'd end up having to do an ATX PSU mod :(

6950 and 6970 are the same size -- you might have to be careful of which brand you buy, though... XFX is listing their cards (even the "reference" ones) at about half an inch longer than other brands (which from the picture puts them way over). I just took the cheapo route of buying the 2GB 6950 and doing the shader unlock to get a 6970 ;)

and the ATX PSU mod is pretty easy w/ the nexus I used. The major dimensions of the opening don't have to be changed since the air path is unobstructed (the only part of the ATX PSU behind the sheet metal is the side area of the internal psu fan), just drill new mounting holes and bend the small lip up w/ a leatherman. :D

I recently upgraded my CPU fan from a stock intel to a Shuriken Rev B. , but it overlapped the PCI-e slot, so i had to bend the mounting brackets a little bits, for the cooler to move away from the GPU.

I made some pics to illustrate how close it is:

Sorry that the PSU and stuff is on the picture, after i took me more then 2 hours to reassemble the thing, i wasnt realy motivated to take it appart once again, just for some pictures.

specs are:
ECS H55H-I
i5 750 stock speed @ 28 idle, 55 stress
4GB ddr3
HD6870 http://foto.arkona.be/#0.4
stock 300W psu.

hee hee, I did the same thing with my Scythe Suriken RevB to allow my GTX570's backplate to fit with my H55N-USB3 :p

+1 for thinking alike! :D

Hey guys. I've been kinda brainstorming my head fot about une week thinking the problems I'm actually having wuth this case. First of all, my case houses:

GA-H55N-USB3
450W PSU from Silverstone
i7 860
H70 (double fan, one outside)
Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 8GB
HD 6870
WD 500GB Scorpio Blue
Corsair F120

There are some things I'd like to solve:

1- Place to fit 2x 2'5" HDD's.
2- Recover ODD lost with the H70
3- Replace metal profiles on the sides that give rigidity to the box by one without holes.
4- Being Able to house the H70 (50mm) and two Fans (2x25mm) INSIDE the box (i think's almost impossible.

Solutions I've been thinking:

1- The gap at the psu's side is just the width of a 2'5" HDD. theres just the mounting missing.

2- Rise the MB 1 or 2mm (this means rising the I/O shield and PCI mount by cutting and soldering). Place the ODD just where the "never-used-by-anyone" 3,5" bay. Place mountings on the floor of the case to fix it and cutting either the case and the front pannel (taking the top bay as reference)

3- Buying some aluminium or steel profiles or a sheet and bending it. I want to do this so the PSU cables can run though there and can be hidden easily, just cable management.

4- This one (i think) it's almost impossible. With this I mean moving the anchor point outside or inside. The first would have be like (steel->fan->rad->fan) the second would be (fan->steel->rad->fan).
If this is absolutely impossible. The other option would be to build a mesh for the fan on the oustide to cover the front and the sides, jut to give the original look.

So, what do you think. I'd like to have you opinions based on personal experiences, if anyone tried this before and knows if there's a problem or can be done

ps. Sorry it there's any mistake, long time no speak or write in english

I have 3x 2.5" drives mounted I used 4x strips of sheet metal and some foam for vibration insulation. The drives get some fan action and are taking up space that would never have been used any way. I did have to rip the 3.5 and 2.5 mounting tray off the bottom of the optical drive tray.

I don't know about the H70 I have the ECO ALC in my case it works great and the optical drive is functional, however I am limited to the use of a 9.5" video card.

H70's rad its 50mm width and with an HD6870 theres barely 2mm left to the end of the case. Thats the main problem: that I cant place the radiator sideways.

The mount for the HDD's looks grat, but since i cant use the ODD tray theres no place for me to hang them.
