Work is sloooooow atm and we were having a discussion of what would be your ideal game. SParked my curiosity about what you guys could come up with.

So if you could combine any element from any game ever made what would your perfect game be? Not an existing game just take elements from existing ones or come up with your own.

STALKER's setting and environment, with Crysis graphics. More in-depth quests (other than the main quest), just like in Morrowind / Oblivion, with the ability of joining several factions. Our actions in each faction and/or quest, would change the ending of the game, more or less like what happens in the original STALKER. The ability to use pretty much everything as your weapon and also the ability to use several types of vehicles, as in Crysis.
The ability to play with several characters. The story between all the selectable characters would be connected at some point in the game, just like in AvP 2. Having some sort of special ability through all characters would also be nice, is it innate (like slowmo in FEAR) or given through some sort of special gear (nanosuit in Crysis).

This would be the perfect game for me. Obviously it's a FPS :)

top down adventure game ala zelda link to the past (graphic wise) with online multiplayer and LOOOOOAD of place to explore.

I will expand on yours silus. I would go with an Oblivion sized map (no loading between zones, only when entering cities), with STALKER's setting (sort of apocolyptic) with the Crytek engine. Multitiered quests, and people to hire as a squad.

Isnt that what Fallout 3 is shaping up to be like minus the people ot hire as a squad?

Rainbow Six 4, with all the realism and tactical planning intact. Missions would be located in far-flung areas around the world (no more Vegas please) and single player would involve the traditional six man teams. Add in a serious coop multiplayer where you could plan your strategy out with your friends and then execute it in the game would be awesome. Maybe throw in an experience/rank system where the higher rank you are, the more control you have over the planning process or your put in charge of a team (alpha, bravo, charlie etc). Team leaders success or failure would be based on the success of their team (keeping your friends alive) and the success of the mission. Players could choose from playing either as Rainbow or Terrorists in multiplay for team v team matches, each with different objectives to achieve.

I know it will never happen, but I can dream. Time to fire up Raven Shield...sigh.

Yeah, I guess it kinda is... which is why I can't wait for Fallout 3. Hopefully I won't HAVE to be connected to the internet to play.

There are a number of games I'd like to see...
One is a massive strategy game. It'd be real time, but it'd happen at a pretty slow pace (think Sins) and contain the depth of a Civilization-type game. However, what would make this game truly unique would be an ability to zoom to any level and have anything and everything automated. If you're a micromanager, you can manage individual troops on the field, but if you prefer you can simply tell your generals to fight for a given region, or you can even view the action on a larger - perhaps planetary or galactic - level. Of course, to accommodate this, the game's time would have to be adjustable (think Star Wars Rebellion, which was an excellent game as well).

I'd also love to see a MMO in the style of Galaxies or Eve, but perhaps with more freedom. (I've often thought that the Commomwealth as portrayed by Hamilton in his Pandora's Star series would be an excellent setting for a MMO, but that's a whole different story). You should be able to walk around and hold everyday positions and just be a normal person; you should be able to be a wayward adventurer seeking battle, you should be able to climb the ranks of government, etc. I'm not advocating realism where "playing" entails working a 9-5 job, but a complete freedom of choice. For example, though Star Wars Galaxies had a wonderful sense of movie-like adventure - you were always someone special - people could still choose to be musicians in the local cantina. But Galaxies never had things like options to truly climb the ranks of the factions, the ability to plan and fight for new developments in and around cities, etc. One thing that often bothers me about MMOs is that they simply don't allow you to do things. Anything should be possible - there should just be consequences. For example, I believe that full PvP should be enabled, but if you attack anyone without provocation, the game will level heavy (and within the bounds of the roleplay) consequences against you.

Finally, I'd like to see a game in the style of Jedi Knight II, but redone with modern bells and whistles. I very much enjoyed the freeform nature of combat - the high mobility was an absolute joy. However, it'd be nice to see a newer version of such a game (not necessarily within the Star Wars IP) that not only includes better graphics, but also allows full usage of physics, interactivity, etc.

A modern Daggerfall-like RPG. Something with a convincing dynamically generated world with a working economy, and with all the complexity of Daggerfall (and maybe more). Combat could be real-time or turn-based -- I wouldn't really care either way.

Crysis-level visuals or better wouldn't hurt. Ideally, this would be a game that could be scaled up to compete with games a year or two down the line.

Oblivion with even better graphics, no loading when entering homes, and make it mmo. Maybe make it a little bigger, which in that case you can have some loading stuff but i'm not sure as of yet how that would work without have places people would sit to 'gank' you at. The game would be kinda like how I imagine darkfall is going to be... only way cooler! Also, don't charge per month, or give the option to pay like 100-150 upfront instead of paying a monthly fee (I feel like if i pay per month, EVERY second i'm not paying i'm wasting my cash)

Another game which would be sweet would be like what someone mentioned, with a mmo Strategy game. Maybe somehting like civilization, (Half life mod of empires would be extremely small scale in a way of what I am thinking about) and players start off with a small group, either played fps or like the Total War games, and slowly build their way up, the better fighters getting awarded better troups by the leader. That game would need a little more thinking on my part, but wow... im loving these thoughts.

Also, make bioshock way longer, and thats another game i'd love. (i just loved the setting and it was a fun style or play too)

I would have to say Ghost Recon. Add in iron sights, maybe some more weapon customization, control of firing arcs in the command map. And of course the Cry Engine 2.

Basically the only thing I would keep from the new Rainbow games is the iron sights. Even the graphics are blah. I'll fire up Raven Shield with you.

My ideal game has already been made. It's called Total War, and there have been four versions of it thus far.

Thanks man. :) I'd love to see a new Ghost Recon with the Cry Engine. No linear missions, you would have to use your compass/map/gps and decide which root would be the best to get to your target undetected. All the while having to be aware of enemy patrols and surveillance. Pretty sweet stuff.

It's already announced : Diablo 3

For shooters, i'd want a battlefield style game with the actual shooting feel of Counter-Strike in a huge persistant MMO world with fun objectives and no lag with hundreds of people in battles with commanders and stuff.

A massively-multiplayer first-person shooter with RPG elements set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland would be too sweet. Think Fallout 3 fused with Crysis and WoW.

Rome: Total War with better graphics, ragdoll physics, and a multiplayer campaign map would be my perfect game. :)

Half-life 1-2 and all of their *seemingly* unlimited amount of community made mods/content.

Post Apocalyptic third person or first person, a mix between Twisted Metal and Mad Max, but it would be an RPG , you could drive your car around the wasteland in third person , hood view or incar view, and when you got out it would be third or first person, you could visit the local bars for quests and chit chat, find old abandoned bases for supplies and weapons for your car. also there would be an intricate crafting system.

Think Auto assault/Earth and Beyond/Twisted Metal/Mad Max into one.:D

Roaming the galaxies of the universe (or just one!) in true Newtonian physics. The game has to enable the player to experience everything from RPG elements, space ship dog fights in FPS, with light simulator like qualities (no eve online 3rd person mouse click combat please), FPS gameplay when boarding ships, on ground and vehicles of many sorts to explore the terrains.

Trading and smugling between planets (elite style) mining, building on planets, light micro management of settlements, being able to later on construct your own ships depending on the characters science skills and social network and so forth (and wealth yes).

Seemless realtime between orbital space and planetary landscapes (we saw a demo of this working perfectly two years ago or more). The ability to join organisations and do diplomacy and politics would be great as well.

Interaction with thousands of AIs, ability to establish familily, age in real time, make use of advanced genetics and augmentations (deus ex, neuromancer style)... this game is never going to be made is it? :D

All the genres in one IN AMAZING GRAPHICS. And works with any console or pc.

exact Counter-Strike 1.3 on CoD4 engine with the extra realism of Insurgency (www.insmod.net). Or...Insurgency without the bugs and geared more twds competitive play, with a friendly radar.

(i love Ins as it is but in order to be perfect it'd need better competitive play, which would definitely subtract from the immersion)

Yeah, being able to hire people for a squad and help us do our quests would be a nice feature aswell.

An RPG that takes the visuals (and better) of Oblivion with a less console like interface and better immersion similar to Morrowind. I loved Morrowind having areas that you couldn't do at a lower level, but could complete once you were powerful enough. You also got more of a sense of power as you progressed up in levels and abilities, where the levelling system of Oblivion made it seem like you were always at about the same level, which quickly grew very boring. I'd also like to see it be longer and as open ended or more open ended then either Morrowind or Oblivion. I thought both were fantastic games, but something that blends the two and is even better would be awesome... :D

I would love such strategy

i would like a game which takes place BEFORE the big disaster, BEFORE the collapse of the super advanced civilization, BEFORE the super cool high tech lab was torn to crap

that requires a lot more creative effort though. so fat chance ide imagine.

Counter-Strike 1.6 with the gore of Soldier of Fortune 2, and a public anticheat feature that actually works against any type of hack or exploit :)

I would lose my soul :D

Morrowind style of play (no, not Oblivion, with it's stupid fast travel and total level scaling taking all the fun out of exploration and thievery), set in the Planescape universe with the same level of content and story as Planescape: Torment, but with the level of exploration carried over from Morrowind. Excellent graphics and musical score, of course. The level of freedom to mod scene in the Half Life and Elder Scrolls games. The ability to not only purchase a house or whatever, but start businesses, participate in the stock market if you wish, maybe even be elected or stage a coupe, and so on; basically, the freedom to ignore the story and take over the world as a side game. Also, the breadth of leveling and character development and just sheer un-capped-ness of the Disgaea series (oh, how I love hitting for 26801k damage...) Oh, and the option for multiplayer, without a requirement for it.

That would be a game I would never stop playing.

Intergalactic War with an ongoing civlization and economy.

You can be anything you want, trader, mercenary, marine, bounty-hunter, soldier, pilot, officer, etc. Explore worlds and starships and bases in first person. Command battleships and carriers by walking around a bridge or command center in first person. When you visit a viewscreen it turns into an RTS game. You can join in the battle in first person as infantry, fly ships and drive vehicles in first person. Be a pilot on a fighter in space or atmosphere in space or flight sim view.

A racing sim, just like the real thing... :p

EVERYTHING included.... *drool*

A remake of Planescape Torment with updated graphics (still top down), fully voiced and with a wee bit more combat, that would make my day! :D

Epic battles is where its at...

I'd take the beach landing at normandy portrayed in games like Medal of honor and Call of Duty and make them multiplayer, the Axis have 100 players to defend the beach/cliffs and have mortars and mounted MG's with unlimited ammo, each with a 30 second respawn.

And the Allies have 500 players all with Thompsons, Garands and a few grenades, all with limited ammo, and 10 second respawns...

They totally need to do this, like...right now.
