How did the Vista install go? Did you use RC1 or "Pre-RC1"? I just downloaded RC1 tonight and was thinking of installing it this weekend. If installed, how did everything word? Sound? Wireless? Keyboard stuff?

Nice Sager!

Which OGIO bag is that? I have the OGIO Metroid for my ThinkPad and absolutely LOVE IT. I have had many OGIO bags over the years, they make some of the best bags out there and no where near as expensive as their competition (i.e. booq, crumpler, brenthaven, etc.)

WOW that brings back memories

I used to have a pav just like that about 3 years ago. Nice machine, very reliable but damn did it get HOT :D .

I actually just got it from my cousin. All I had to pay for is half of the shipping which was $25. The original 80GB HDD had crashed so I replaced it with my 40GB HDD. Now, I know someone is going to ask why didn;t you put in another 80GB? Well I do not have enough money right now to buy a 80GB HDD. I happened to have a 5400RPM 40GB in my parts bin. So I used that one. It is a Hitachi Travelstar..

Anyways It does get VERY hot! I kinda get worried about it sometimes. It is also loud whenall thee fans are on. Oh Well! At least it works!

how many fps do u get on FEAR? or whatever game u have?

Couldn't tell you, I'm not a benchmark kinda guy anymore. I just spent the last 3+ years solely on Macintosh computers and loving it. I wanted a Windows PC again to do a few things and play games. So far my games run very very fast, no slowdown or stuttering, and with full everything on. To me that's the only benchmark I need. Besides I have not bought a newer PC game in quite awhile and you wouldn't consider anything I'm running to be a valid and modern benchmark now anyway.

Hmm, Alienware did a little benchmarking for me it seems, and saved it to a file.

III. Burn-In/Benchmarks

Doom 3: 64.4 fps

Works for me :)

P.S. Don't mean to be a stick in the mud, but my days of overclocking, tweaking, modding, benchmarking, and driver hacking are over. I just want to use the damn computer now. This laptop rocks and is priced perfectly!

Eragon Dragonslayer said:
really 64fps? thats not that bad at all....thanx appleseed

Yeah Alienware does a burn in and benchmark suite for you before they ship your computer to you, they do that to make sure it is 100% stable before it leaves. They also inspect EVERYTHING from the interior to the exterior for defects and such as well. Takes a few days more to get something from them then say.. Dell, but when you get it you know it is 100% perfect :)

So far all the games I have thrown at it run smooth with everything cranked. So I am giving this notebook a 9/10 score. It would have been perfect if they included a larger cel count battery, this is a 6-cel and gets roughly 3-3.5 hours of use with normal non gaming activity, which honestly isn't bad at all just not what I'm used to with Apple laptops which usually get 4-6 under the same load.

Anyway, hope this helps you!

Just in case you wanna see what they do, here is a copy and paste job from the report.

They are the same card. The ATI x1400 has 128MB dedicated and 128MB HyperMemory. Sometimes they list it as 128MB since that is how much physical RAM it actually has.

I love it. Mostly use it for typing up docs and viewing power points at school. I recently got alpha centauri running under linux so now I drain my battery with that everyday :p
I had a dell I6000 before and that thing was just a peice of crap. The x60 is very small and very solid :)
