WoW- has to be at the top for me...played it for nearly 7 years.

Chrono Trigger- hands down the best JRPG ever imo.

Starcraft+expansions- speaks for itself

CS 1.5- again...enough said

Day of Defeat- probably my favorite HL mod ever

Great being defined by the sheer amount of hours of enjoyment gained (and $ spent for the arcade entries). In no order, and encompassing gaming from C64/128, Amiga, and pc:

Elite
Gunship
M1 Tank Platoon
Their Finest Hour: Battle of Britain
Carrier Command
Pirates
Falcon (the original, and 4.0)
Freelancer
Duke Nukem 3D
UT
Quake II
Action Quake mod
Doom
Civ III
Nascar Racing (original, and 4)
Ultima III and IV
Operation Flashpoint (co-op multi-player on my own custom maps, so evil)
Madden series (from original on Amiga to 2008, which i still play)
WoW
SWG
Hitman series
Half Life
AoE
C&C
Interstate '76
Counter Strike
GTA series
Baldar's Gate series
X-Wing series
Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Arcade Greats:

Missile Command
Heavy Barrel
Twin Cobra
Lethal Enforcers

Consoles:
Legend of zelda, all of them
Ninja Gaiden, all of them
Castlevania on NES,SNES
Contra
Super Metroid
Street Fighter II Turbo
Goldeneye, N64

PC:
Rainbow Six Rogue Spear (played online for 6 years until zone shut down)
Quake 4
Stalker ShoC, CS and CoP

I hit a wall after playing the Stalker series, i have tried playing Battlefield 3 and Skyrim but got bored real quick. I always go back to playing Stalker, the atmosphere is unlike any other game and with the mods being put out constantly, it never gets boring.

If I am thinking about this as time invested

Medieval Total War 2: I played the crap out of this game and the mods
Star Control 2: Think I played this about a dozen times through
Baldurs Gate 1/2: Spent most of time of all on these games and their mods
Warcraft III DoTA: Kali+this all the time when I was younger
Hereos of Might and Magic II
Counterstrike 1.6
Chrono Trigger: I think I rented this 7 times in a row until I got every single ending. It was a lot larger chore back in the day without any guide or internet.
Final Fantasy 6

This thread has confirmed that I was the only one whose childhood memories result around the Sega Saturn.

And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. You guys missed out on some of the best games ever made!!!!!

MY OPINION IS FACT!!!!!!!!

I had one, had Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force III, Dragon Force, some good games out there that still hold their value quite well (monetarily at least).

Civ III & IV
RR Tycoon II
Age of Empires
Empire Earth
Zelda OOT
Dragon Age Origins
Mass Effect I & II
The Witcher I & II Got Witcher I after it was fixed

I got into Zelda watching my mother play on the SNES. She would be 67 if she were still here. I started to play along with her. When Ocarina came out I really got into it. Then I saw Age of Empires and started my Pc gaming career. Civ is by far the game I have spent the most time on and I've just started looking to RPGs to fill the void created by Civ V.

My following games are ones that I hung around with in the years and just kept playing sometimes for more than a year.

Quake (the original was always the best, metric shit ton of mods through the years)
Everquest (sometimes I hated it but for some reason I would go back to it many times)
Unreal (when I first saw this game, I thought it was the end all be all of graphics and atmosphere at the time)
GTA Series ( I will always play them)
C&C Red Alert (2 being my favorite and I still go back to play from time to time.
Crackdown (probably played for close to a year with a friend)
Soul Calibur (2 probably being my favorite(on the Dreamcast))
Skyrim (being my current favorite)

I think most of my favorite games are the ones that introduced me to gaming:

Quake
Diablo (I'm one of the who loves the original more than D2)
Dune II
C&C Red Alert
Warcraft II (introduced me to cheating :))
Final Fantasy VI (the best FF, and quite possibly the best game of all time)
Chrono Trigger
Super Mario World

Can't forget some of my more current favorites:
Metal Gear Solid (the original is the best)
Gran Turismo 3 (was a huge follower of the GT series, and I consider this one to be the pinnacle achievement)
Mass Effect (way better than 2)
Fallout 3 (I absolutely love this game)

EDIT: Bah, how could I forget these three gems which shaped my life so much (well, they got me into my current career):
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Battlefield 1942
IL-2 Sturmovik

Gotta say World of Warcraft, and, before that, EverQuest. Then there's Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 3.

Civ - almost failed freshman year of college due to this game
Maniac Mansion - those old lucasarts titles still are the best adventure games
Baldur's Gate - was never a fan of RPG until this game
BF 1942 - Best FPS game and series IMO

For consoles:
Super Mario Bros
Street Fighter 2 on SNES

Zelda on the NES, followed by ALTTP on SNES
Adventure on the Atari 2600
Super Mario World
Forza Motorsports (on the original Xbox)

Multiplayer:

Action Half-Life (a mod for the original Half-Life, god so much fun!)
Quake 2 Deathmatch
Half-Life 2 Deathmatch

I don't get a chance to play many games anymore... must be something about getting old... I think the last game I played through fully was Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Gamecube.

I will admit to playing quite a bit of Rock Band / Guitar Hero on the Wii over the last few years - it's a lot of fun and there is a lot of good music out there to jam to.

Command and Conquer Tiberian Dawn and Tiberian Sun - Kane LIVES!
Roller Coaster Tycoon - Spent soo much time on this, perfecting my amusement parks and coasters, instead of doing homework.
Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat - Lot's of memories.
Halo - The first game blew me away.
Rome Total War - My favorite ancient era, epic game and battles.
Mass Effect 1 and 2 - Played these like a month ago from a Steam sale. OMFG I can't believe I've never played these epic games til now.

Most my gaming memories are mostly '98 - '04.

Yea considering I liquidated my collection for about 800 dollars. And I was fortunate enough to get a RocketBoy mod chip for the current saturn I have. :)

Anyways the Saturn was amazing. Sega made some truly unique games for the system that were just outright fun to play. Think Nintendo fun, but were never really marketed as well the Nintendo. Unique games I am thinking about:

Virtual Fighter series

Any light gun game series, Virtual Cop/House of the Dead etc. Fuck all you have now is that shitty Time Crisis game

Nights into Dreams

Panzer Dragoon series. This was a game that had a world so vast it had its own vocabulary. You never see on rail shooters.

Some decent RPGs. Shining Force etc.

Awesome and unique platformers/beat em ups. Three Dirty Dawes/Bug series/Clockwork Knight
