The title is weird with it being marked as the 7th. I didn't research it enough to find out if it is in fact the 7th Xuan-Yuan Sword game but after watching a video I downloaded the demo and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The sword fighting is fluid feels really good and for the short time I was in the demo the story was very touching and well done. There are shrines and campfires where progress can be saved. Takes place in China so it definitely has a Nioh vibe. Game releases on Oct 28th and there is a Steam demo.

The title isn't "weird," it''s the seventh iteration of this game series.

We have just never heard of it here in the US.

It doesn't look at that enticing (too many real-time combat RPGs on Steam with Sword hack-and0-slash being their primary focus), although I could give the demo a go this weekend.

I wouldn't really consider it as much of an RPG as I would a Dark Souls(ish) clone or at least in that genre. 3rd person sword fighting with all the hallmarks from the genre like block/parry, dodge/dodge roll, camp fires, camp fire/shrine save spots, etc. I really enjoyed the combat but the story was pretty good as well.

Well, thanks, you saved me the trouble of trying the gfame. I finds pure beat-em-up to get boriing. I need somehing to do besodes just press the same button over and over, and I've never been good at timing parries.

The reason I got hooked on games like The Legend of Zelda was because you spend more time figuring out enemy tactics than you do jut doing the same thing over-and-over. They also put the whole game on easy mode by introducing a shooter element (with full health.) The added items made you think about how to kill or get around enemies. Every other pure beat-em-up since has bored me.

I have even tried Dark Souls and gotten bored.

The only modern beat-em-up I have enjoyed was Tokyo Xanandu (and that's because you have highly-varied combat from each of the playable characyters, and it doesn't just depend on a Streetfighter game mechanic for battles.) They also gift you a pretty big sweeet zone for a successful dodge
