Hi everybody.

I seem to remember some talk over here about Xp not wanting DLL or drivers other than it's own. Well i'm instaling my soundblaster card on a PCI-X port, with PCI compatible mode enabled. On this system http://satamax.free.fr/machine2.jpg based on a K8S pro http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=290256515824

So if i install through windows instaler, the drivers for the card load well, but if i do it from the install CD from creative, it doesn't work. So drivers are instaled through windows instaler. But after, i need some other tools, like creative suround mixer. Which can't be instaled via windows instaler. And after several install from the CD
i still get a CtDevcon .dll error. Every time. Downloaded the dll, but still doesn't work. Anybody knows what to do?

Thanks a lot.

Max, on a fresh install of XP Pro 32.

Hi OldMX.

Thanks a lot for your reply. It's a sound blaster live 5.1 PCI Labelled Creative EMU 10K1 audio processor (VDM) under device manager.

Bye.

Max.

FYI - In order to install standalone Creative apps, you need to have engine32.cab in the same folder.

In terms of the drivers, having the latest ones can resolve a lot of issues. Don't try to use the ones on CDs since they tend to be very outdated.

An alternative to Creative-built drivers would be the kX Project drivers
