Three hard drives in question:

160
120
400

XP Pro was running on the 160GB. I installed Vista on a 120GB in March.

Now I am going to go back to XP Pro. I erased the 160GB from Disk Management. Then I went and took out the 120 and put in the 160GB.

XP installed fine. I attached my data drive, Seagate NL 35.1 400GB. I went to unmap it as my E:\ and make it D:\ (and make my DVD burner E:, instead of D. Basically switch the two.

I went and clicked remove to remove E: from my 400GB. I hit "Add" and select D: - what the DVD Burner used to be map to.

Then it brought up the following screen:

Then if I go to My Computer and click the D: drive, I get:

error2yy5.jpg

Any ideas what's causing this?

It is my data drive - it has data on it.

I can get the data, I can see it. I can go to Start --> Run, and do D:\ and see it. I can even right-click the icon in My Computer and hit "Explore" and still get it.

If I double click the icon, it shows the second screenshot.

I've never seen that before...

What kind of files are on it? Misc?

Just work files.

There is only one folder in the root of the drive called "data" - which is where my data goes to be organized. Otherwise it just stays in the root of the drive.

lol that made me laugh, havent seen that one before, nice one jchen012 :)
