When looking at the workgroup from my "server" I can see the other computer and browse it's files but from the other computer I can see the "server" in the workgroup, but when I try to browse my "server's" files I get a permissions error.

Any Ideas? If you need more info please just ask what info you need... this is my first time setting up a home network... I seem to have everything right except for some kind of permissions for browsing the "server" from another computer...

Either make sure simple file sharing is turned on, on that machine, or create an account on that rig for you local logon. If you are using XP pro then just setup remote accounts that mirror what your using to login locally. That or enable the guest account. I am not sure you can even disable simple file sharing on XP Home but if both machines are XP home make sure simple file sharing is turned on, on the trouble box.
