XP Networking error message: link unavailable

I don't remember going over this in any of the courses/books I've gone through. Does everyone else experience this:

When saving something remotely on my XP network (simple file sharing) I will browse to a folder on a network computer and when I double click or select that folder, I get an error that says

"The drive or network connection that the shortcut 'target.lnk' refrs to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again."

However, if I hit OK, it goes to that folder just fine. Its like an error message that really isn't an error.
