So the Hyper212 wasn't on sale.. so I sprung for the cheaper cooler because I didn't want to spend $40 on a cooler. So I gambled, and basically... I am really impressed with this $24.99 cooler. It mounts very well and feels very sturdy, the fan mounting rubbers are extremely stretchy so the fan took less than 30 seconds to install. The unit itself took about 10 minutes, it was pretty self explanatory. I ordered it Tuesday, it was here Thursday.. Once again Newegg comes through :)

Here were my results @ 4.0ghz, 1.304volts, on the turbo 4.0 settings on my mb for 5 minutes.. room temperature roughly 71 degrees

Stock 2500k cooler -

core 1 - 78
core 2 - 84
core 3 - 86
core 4 - 83

Loki 92mm

core 1- 53
core 2 - 55
core 3 - 53
core 4 - 51

WOW! I didn't know my stock fan would get that hot with stress testing. The highest I had seen it in core temp which I left on all the time was around 74 degrees. So it's a good thing I got a replacement. The thermal paste was with whatever was supplied with each...

One more result... after hearing that the turbo 4.0 uses quite a bit more voltage than necessary, I went ahead and did a manual overclock of 4.4ghz @ 1.256volts. It has been running for about 45 minutes now with no stability issues.. here are the temps:

core 1 - 52
core 2 - 53
core 3 - 55
core 4 - 49

I was really excited with these results, because I didn't think I could get a stable O/C at this voltage.

I know there is nothing magical about this cooler, it's less surface area, with a smaller fan... but it works well for the dough, so I thought I'd just post with my results in case anybody gave a crap :)

Thanks for posting your findings, as this is the cooler I have my sight set on. Or getting a bolt-through kit for my TRU-90, but I can never seem to find it in stock at my preferred e-tailors, so I'll probably just go with the Loki.

This was quite helpful, does anyone have a Hyper 212 Plus to compare it to?

i have a i5-2500K 4.3Ghz @1.296V

with hyper 212+ (push /pull gelid silent12 fans)

prime 95 max

58 64 66 67

idle

34 35 37 38

room 22.5C (72.5F) so hottest core rise over ambient @ load is 45~ C

my case is a Gigabyte Triton 180 with 2 120mm fans (gelid silent 12) motherboard is Gigabyte Z68X-UD3-B3 w/ 12GB Mushkin DDR3 1333 / I also have a XFX HD6870 and a corsair TX650 PSU.

I'm not sure if his temps are load / what was running meh.. my 212+ performs well and is all but silent even at load....if only i could say the same about the HD6870 :) (it isn't silent at load..)

Josh and Atarione,

Thank you for posting your temps for both the Hyper 212+ and the Loki. I ended up buying a Loki earlier this month and I'm glad I made the purchase of the Loki.

I mean how can you go wrong with a $3 heatsink after rebate. I mean lunch is more expensive than that. If anyone is interested in getting it before the rebate / sale dissolves here is the link.

Thanks again.
