I'm sure these cards are simmilar for the most part and my 7900gt is on its way to the grave, I don't play any graphic intense games or anything but I do play competively in CS, WC3 and i do play the occasional DOD:S and TF2. They're very similar in price as well but the 9800gt does come with COD:4 while the evga comes with WOW which i will not touch, so what would be the smarter buy if you take into consideration the free game :p , because i would obviously spring a few more bucks for the gtx.

Also how well would this card hold up in the future? I won't be bringing my desktop to school so I don't need the most up to date card as well.

thanks so much!

The 9800GTX will deff perform better, and be a little bit more future proof, but you can't go wring with both. I personally would take the 9800GTX, but it is a bummer it comes with WOW instead of COD:4.

go with the 9800GTX or GTX+(GTS 250).. the 9800GT is just an 8800GT..

I have run 9800GTX, single, SLI, and TRI-SLI and in every cobination they are awesome. Then run cool and perform amazing. Def the way to go in my opinion!

Between those two I would definitely go with the GTX. More powerful plus I really prefer double slot cards. When it comes to free games I don't take that into consideration simply because I buy a video card to last 2+ years. If I bought the less expensive card to get a game I would end up upgrading a lot sooner because of it (costing me more money in the long run). Plus, games drop in price reasonably quickly. You will be able to buy COD for $20 soon enough.
