Just needing to know if the XFX 8400GS is a good card for Vista MCE and Blu-Ray playback.

Here is the link. It's HDCP compatible but just wondering if it has enough 'muscle'.

If not, I'm looking at the 8500GT. Thanks for any advice.

Also, I need a nice 'n quiet CPU cooler for AM2 socket. Or are the stock AMD coolers decent enough for a living room HTPC setup.

i'd suppose any card even a 8400 would be ok for dvd/blu-ray playback

it doesn't have much muscle for anything beyond that such as high end gaming

if it has decent ventilation the stock cooler does ok.....when you try to overclock it a lil or run for extended periods nonstop then its time to consider a decent cooler

The 8400GS will work just fine for high def movies and Media Center. I use one in my HTPC (see signature) and it gets a lot of high definition action. As long as you have a decently powered dual core you should have no problems.

8400gs are fine but it gets a bit too hot. If your going to game also I suggest you move up to at least a 9600gt

I would suggest getting Athlon x2 4000+ with HD 2600 or HD 3650. Native HDMI is lot less work.
