Got a good deal on an XFX 290X, but looking to increase the VRM1 cooling but still use the stock DD cooler.

Anyone know what the original thermal pad thickness is for VRM1 strip?

Contact XFX tech support and was told that the VRM's are rated for 155C, so running at ~120C is supposed to be okay, though I would still prefer to run as cool as possible.

Especially when the fan hits 100% when gaming.

Are your VRM's running at 120C? Wow thats hot

Wow that's pretty sweet... wasn't aware of it.

I used GELID vrm kit, NZXT Kraken G10, and some stick on vram heatsinks. Almost makes me want to transfer the GELID/NZXT setup to my MSI 290x and buy this one for my unlocked XFX 290x.

It's a pretty sweet setup. I wanna get a pair for my.cards, but I'm afraid to take the coolers off that I have on now because of the CLU I'm using. I'm afraid I'll crack the die.

Anyone have experience with this?
