Xbox360 wired controller and Vista x64 problem

Hi,

I have been using the wired controller for over a year now on my PC with windows XP and no problems. Since upgrading to Vista the controller works for a few minutes, then the ring of light starts flashing and I lose the inputs. Game controller properties in the control panel says everything is ok but doesn't respond to any inputs.

I tested the controller in my Xbox360 and it works just fine, any ideas?

Vista x64 Ultimate is fully up to date and is genuine.
 
I'd guess something horked with your Vista USB drivers.

Have you tried updating those?
 
I haven't touched Vista but I'd guess the problem is something to do with power saving on the USB ports. I remember XP giving people problems where the USB ports would shut down so to speak rendering whatever device attached unusable.

Check through whatever power management options there are.

Like I said, just a guess ;)
