who here uses XBMC or the like as their primary HTPC solution?
the only thing it lacks is a tuner and DVR, as far as i can tell, and its a 120-150 dollar solution vs whatever the epia's + tuners or a normal computer costs

you have to buy a mod chip I am pretty sure, so that brings the cost up a bit.

there are many methods of softmods :) (like 3 games with buffer overflow exploits).

so that makes it free. unless you then want to add a HDD :)

still cheaper than a normal pc ;)

XBMC is so awsome, just set up network shares or straight from the xbox HD with modchip and you got full video, photo, music, data steaming. Some other cool features are the clock updating from windows time server, looking up song info from an online music database, and giving you realtime weather reports... It's a winner

lol that sounds really cool. Where can I find more information about softmodding? I'm an xbox noob

if you know someone with a modded xbox you can save yourself the money of the memory card and action replay device needed to get the hacked save to your xbox's HDD.

but yea, xbox-scene.org's forum's FAQs
