Xbox "Next" or "Infinity" reveal thread. Today is the big day!

Football and COD the main focus of the conference i expected nothing less from this. Shame they didn't have any pizza and doritos features.

Leaning, vaulting, fish that move out of the way when you get near them...

Sounds like they're trying to copy ArmA 3 to be honest. :p

Something tells me MS took those "I bought the 360 just for Netflix" stats a little too far.
Seems like games might be an afterthought this time.

Well that was disappointing. Granted Sony didn't show the console...but at least they showed what's most important...fucking game play and demos.

People have been saying that MS is waiting for E3 while seeming to forget that the PS4 will be there as well. I'm going to take a leap here and say that, except for exclusives, PS4 is going to be the console to get this gen. It's already going to be a good bit faster.

Meh, whatever...as a PC gamer I just want the prettier games already...consoles be damned!

Well, as someone who used his xbox mostly as a media center extender I'm actually excited about the HDMI passthrough features assuming they update media center functionality with it. I am a bit shocked they didn't show a single playable game. COD was the only real game they showed and it's never been impressive technically. I could care less about all the target renders though, they're meaningless. Really, so far all I want to do is just keep using steam and my PC hooked up to my TV which can already do everything they showed here except the pointless kinect integration.

I like the concept of having everything linked together (assuming you want that), but I think most of us were interested in games. We got pre-rendered cutscenes from EA and a minute of Call of Duty that looked like an average PC game.
As a gamer I'm not sure how you wouldn't be a little disappointed with that.
The PS4's reveal wasn't any better, though.

I'm also very curious how the pass-thru features will work if you have a surround-sound receiver. None of the Wii U stuff works with one.

No backwards compatibility with 360 games and a fee for installing the game on a second account or maybe a second system? Hopefully arcade games carry over.

I am pretty excited for One. The NFL thing has me giddy!! The console is also very elegant. Also I hate cod but damn did that make me horny for some ghosts!

I fully expect Microsoft to spend E3 focussing way more on games, because they got this out of the way. They got all the stuff out of the way that Sony may end up showing off at E3. If Microsoft planned it like that I think it's a good strategy. If Sony is spending time showing off their apps, other, non-gaming features, at E3, Microsoft can spend their time unveiling some of those exclusives they hinted at at this event.

We'll see if it happens.

and what's the deal with touting all kinds of tired ideas as if they're new and exciting? Improved AI, better graphics, a more egronomic controller. Wahoo! He made it sound like not having a huge battery tumor and a horrible d-pad were big improvements. Really I'm not at all excited about this thing the more I think about it.

The big kicker too, think about how that xbox is going to connect to your other devices? Do they have to be compatible though HDMI to be controlled or is it going to use crappy IR blasters? I have a harmony remote and it's nice but it's far from perfect and the experience is never as seamless as that which is shown on the screen. It's still best to literally have one device, an HTPC if that's what you're trying to accomplish.

Microsoft has confirmed that all Xbox One games will require mandatory installation onto the system's hard drive and, to install the same disc onto another user's drive, a fee must be paid.

Individual games will be tied to Xbox Live accounts, Microsoft said, meaning that the software giant can detect whether a game has been sold to a retailer and repurchased, or handed from one friend to another. In such instances, the second user must pay a fee.

Preown fee confirmed?

Yes.
Again ~ Sony seems like the only ones in the running that give a shit about games.
This article is even more relevant now than it was when it was published 3 months ago. I find it hard to believe that anyone who's a game fan can come away from that Microsoft conference in a positive mood.

Did anyone actually think that was a good press conference? I mean, regardless of whether or not you like Microsoft.

No. Not at all.

There are 2 E3 conferences that were worse than that one....Nintendo's when they announced Wii Music and all the other waggle stuff that has (at this point) been completely forgotten, and Microsoft's when Kinect was announced. Now, Sony did unveil Move (that same year), but Move was not the central point of their conference, like Kinect was of Microsoft's.

Microsoft is apparently in the business of a HTPC box, Sony is making games for a game console, and adding some stuff if you want it. Completely optional.
I know where my $$$'s going.

Why does Wikipedia say that it's getting "God Of War One"?
