I installed XBMC on Ubuntu 11.10 and I can get the menu sounds working with S/PDIF output, but none of my movies with DTS and ACS 5.1 tracks work. I found this article from the XBMC site on the issue: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?titl....2FPDIF_out_for_both_analog_and_digital_audio

However, im a little confused as I can't find that file, but it says to create a new one if its not there. When I Googled, where that file is suppose to be located, it found that Ubuntu 11.10 and the new version of PulseAudio doesnt contain those files anymore.

Anyone get XBMC running on Ubuntu 11.10 or have any idea how to get Digital Passthrough working on it?

I got it working.

I followed this guide: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=83614 but had to modify it a little. I didnt run the "sudo apt-get install esound" command as that installs the PulseAudio libraries that were just uninstalled.

Everything works minus XBMC menu sounds now. The menu sounds are minor and can live without if I dont find a way to get them to work.

Menu sounds are annoying, I just turned them off anyway. But you won't be able to hear other things as well, anything that isn't DTS or Dolby Digital I think. There are 2 seperate settings, Audio output and Passthrough output. You have passthrough output set right, the other one is what will affect menu sounds, music, and non DTS/DD movies.
