i have a x800xl runs pretty good with my x2 [email protected]. Christmas is right around the corner and im wondering if i should get a 7600gt XXX or maybe upgrade ram from 1.5g to 2g duel channel???

im waiting for dx10 to mature so thats not in the question.

my x800xl has 256bit mem and 7600gt has 128 is this a noticeible downgrade in enabling AF?

or should i wait for 1950pro? witch means there wont be anything under my tree sept some cash.. :(

the reason im upgrading is cuz i cant max out games like need for speed carbon... fear,G.R.A.W. and so on

thanks guys

If you're not going to convert from AGP, I'd wait for the X1950 Pro. The 7600GT is an incremental upgrade at best. You may have to save longer, but you'll get a much more noticeable upgrade that will last you far longer.

Better to wait and get something that really does what you want, than be impatient, jump the gun, and be disappointed in the long run.

I would definately wait. I use 2 7600GTs in SLI and its fine but my X800GTO was fine too.

Wait till ATI (lol, AMD) releases its versions of DX10

It would be a barely noticeable upgrade. Waste of money, IMO. Get an X1950 Pro or just wait until you get get a PCI-E system.

would a [email protected] bottleneck a 1950?

I can't see how it would.

I'm running an X2 3800+ with an 8800GTS. From Firingsquad's reviews of the 8800GTS and GTX with multiple CPU's, it looks like I could get more out of having a higher CPU, but then again, my card is faster than an x1950pro.

I went from an X800XL to (briefly) an X1800GTO2 512MB (on par in performance with that X1950 Pro, possibly slightly faster) to this card. I've received measurable speed boosts with both jumps. The only question I'd ask is what resolution you run your games at. If it's 1280x1024 or higher, you'll really benefit from that X1950 Pro, especially if you're wishing to turn on AA/AF, HDR, and other effects.

I bought the X1800GTO2 with plans to run it at 1280x1024 and later 1680x1050. I ended up getting a larger display (1920x1200), which was my reason for the 8800GTS.

What the hell. I never knew/heard of/about a X1800GTO2.

It's one heck of a rare card. Only Sapphire made them, and they don't have it listed on their website; I'm unsure as to why.

Here's a link to the only good review I know of; it's translated from Italian via Google, so it isn't perfect. The card is basically an X1800XT clocked at lower speeds, but with 512MB of the same-speed RAM as an X1800XT. The BIOS is newer than the X1800XT, so it supports dongle-less Crossfire, provided you team it with another X1800xx card that does as well (another rare X1800GTO2, possibly an X1800GTO, but I've never tried it).

It was a really nice card while I had it (bought it here on the forums) but I didn't have it long, due to the purchase of a higher-res LCD that I wanted to run games at full resolution (1920x1200) at, so I sold it (also to another forum member). If you're an overclocker and can find one of these, you'll likely get X1800XT speeds out of it. I still have pictures of the box.

a x1800gto2 isnt on par with a x1950pro, the x1950 pro is better. a x1800xt is on par and may sometimes beat it but thats it
