X58 Mobo Question

Hi everyone,

I was wondering are there any X58 motherboards that have two true 16 PCI-Express lanes for SLI and Crossfire and will allow for a PCI-Express sound card to be installed without affecting the speed?

The X58 chipset has 36 PCIe lanes that can be divided up any number of ways. Do a search on newegg for X58 motherboards and select PCIe slots as 2 and you should get a handful of motherboards with 16x/ 16x for the PCIe slots.

Some of these have PCIe x1 slots that shouldn't inhibit the x16 lanes when used with a PCIe soundcard. Sadly manufacturers tend to put the x1 slot smack in the middle of the x16 slots a lot of the time, so squeezing a soundcard in between two dual slot graphics cards may not be possible.
