X38 mobo and 2 1650PRO CF or P35 mobo and 3850

I have one 512MB 1650PRO ICEQ already and an E8400 processor

Should I buy a more expensive X38 mobo (around $230 and up ) and another 1650PRO and crossfire ( $69 )

or

Buy a cheaper mobo like a GA-P35-DS3l or GA PA35-DS3R ( for around $100 to $140 )and a 512MB 3850 ( on sale for $160 ...usually sell for $220 )

I am assuming that one 3850 would blow away the CF 1650s?

i would suggest that ^^^

but if you want to go the cheap route get the P35 and another x1650 pro as i doubt the x4 slot on the P35 will limit the x1650pro too much

There are X38 boards for right around $200 now... just so ya know.

Although I don't think it's relevant to the OP's question, another good $200 X38 board is the Foxconn X38A. The color choice is horrible, but reviews look good.

That said, go P35 and 3850.

Ya.....Im think Im going with a P35 with single x16 and a 3850....by this time next year the X38s will probably be the price of the P35s. Sorta gotta stick to a budget....Ive already gone over $$ on other items...lotsa hard drives, nice case etc. and an e6300 based system for the kids.


Those ClubIT prices look pretty good...cheaper than what I see them listed for. That 8800GT card goes for 259 here and the motherboards more expensive too....Im talking canadian prices.
