Hi,
I wanted to get everyone's opinion on RAM. I'm planning to upgrade to x299 / 7820x in the coming week and was wondering if 16gb (4x4gb) would be the best move right for primary gaming. I'm eye balling DDR4 4000 which is quite expensive so I'm limiting to 16gb or would it be better to drop to like 3600 and try to get 32gb? Would getting the DDR4 4000 be worth it or is the lower timing better for gaming? What speed / latency would you recommend for max gaming performance?

Thanks

I'd say go with 4x4 4000MHz now so that you get the benefits of quad channel and are using the fastest ram you can get, and possibly upgrade to 32gb of the same ram down the road.

what price and sticks are you looking at?
this quad channel kit should be able to reach ~4000mhz with a little extra v at about c17

but even at stock it may be faster than the 4000c19 kit in games

the 3600 and 4000mhz kits you listed would likely perform very similar since the loser timings reduce the benefits of the higher frequency
